DWT Botany Group and Durham Cathedral have teamed up to provide a class for budding flora artists.
Designed for those with an interest in botany and a desire to draw plants. This 5 week course will cover colour, texture and mediums and is £50 for the course or £10 per session.
8/5/17 – 1 show and tell session from 10.30-11.30 and then a break before the first drawing session between 12-2.30pm Pencil and Charcoal
This session will focus on how to visually record plans and specimen’s using pencil and charcoal, we will focus on line, shading and general proportions and perspectives.
20/6/17 – 2 Ink and colour 1.00-3.00pm
This session will look at adding colour to the sketches created in session 1 (or existing images if you weren’t in session 1), we will use colour in both a realistic and more experimental way to create images. During this session we will introduce images of more colourful plant life to draw from.
18/7/17 –3 Water colour and Acrylic 1.00-3.00pm
This session will look at the different textures that can be created from using water colour vs Acrylic, we will look at how to mix colours and also be inspired by the work of existing artists and the way they use colour.
15/8/17- Print making 1.00-3.00pm
This session will we will take images created in session 1 and turn them into a simple lino block print, everyone will be shown how to carve and print from their individual block.
5/9/17- 3D work 1.00-3.00pm
This session will look at how to translate 2D images into 3D form, everyone will create a 3D representation in clay of a leaf/flower.
