Visit to Hedleyhope Fell to survey heather plots
Our first visit this year to the fell to survey its flora will start at 1000 at the reserve visitor carpark – the main carpark on the B6301 (see link to reserve webpage with location by clicking here).
Please drive directly to the site to arrive for 1000.
I am most grateful to Ann and Lesley who will lead the day. As before, there are three tasks;
• a re-survey of heather beetle plots completed in 2016
• surveying for a stags-horn clubmoss
• carry out some heather transects
Of course, there will be other species to find on the day, and, we should be looking to identify some of the grasses – all before flowering, so that will be uninteresting challenge! We might even spot an adder.
The day is likely to run until 1500, so be prepared with suitable clothing ( it can be very cold on this exposed fell) and sturdy footwear. No cafe, so bring your own lunch and refreshments.
