New volunteering groups for Gateshead volunteers

Green Connections sessions will bring people together to help wildlife in the Gateshead area

The Trust has launched a series of new regular wildlife volunteering groups, called Green Connections, with the aim to bring communities together to help look after their nearby wild spaces.

Mandy Bell, who runs the sessions said: “We want to encourage local people to join us and help make a difference for wildlife in their area. The added benefits of the groups are that those involved can spend time being active, make new friends and see the rewards of their work in improved natural spaces close to home.”

There are mid-week groups, aimed at over 18s, running at various locations weekly* and Saturday session for ages 8 years+ at Shibdon Pond, once a month. Each session will have a different focus, and attendees will get to learn new skills and more about wildlife.

To find out when and where the groups are running and to book, visit the What’s On section of the website and scroll for the 'Green Connections' events.

Shibdon Pond sessions run weekly on a Thursday from 10am to 12 noon, other sessions run on a rotational basis weekly on a Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon at The Folly, Victoria Garesfield, Smith's Lea, and Hill 60.
