Winter trees: How can we tell what they are without their leaves?
This month we will be learning about the clues we can use to identify trees in the winter when they have no leaves. We will be nature detectives, trying to use other evidence such as buds and bark to discover which trees we can find on our Rainton Meadows nature reserve. We will gather winter twigs and get crafty and creative, making something for you to take home.
Monthly activities throughout the year to engage curious young minds and equip future nature scientists with the tools they need to enjoy, investigate and protect our world. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month from 9.30am– 11.30am, £4 per child. Activities are aimed at ages 5- 10 years, children don’t have to be accompanied by an adult, however please let us know if you are leaving your child with us unaccompanied.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. Booking is essential.
The sessions are delivered in line with the John Muir Award; throughout the year there will be opportunities to achieve the four elements of the award: discover, explore, conserve and share. Durham Wildlife Trust can administer your award for you for an additional £3/child.
