Course: NOCN Level 3 Coastal School Leader

This course is for learners who wish to apply the Forest School learning approach in coastal environments and lead Coastal School sessions. It will provide the skills and confidence to lead innovative and engaging learning sessions for children and young people in coastal locations.

Dates: Monday 28th September and Tuesday 29th September 2020

Venue: Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve and Seaham Beach

The course leaders are Hazel Canning (North Yorkshire Forest School Training) and Dorinda Kealoha (Durham Wildlife Trust). Hazel is a Forest School Association Endorsed Forest School Trainer with a background in psychology in education, primary school teaching, ecology and running Forest School and Outdoor Learning sessions for a variety of groups including early years, primary and secondary school aged children and families.  She has led accredited Forest School training courses since 2009 and more recently Coastal School courses. Dorinda started her career in education as a Secondary Geography teacher, and for nearly 20 years has taught children and adults about sustainable behaviour change, environmental issues and management, ocean and wildlife conservation.
