Spring Site Maintenance Work at Black Plantation

Springing into action, Durham Wildlife Trust’s Heart of Durham Project volunteers improving access to this lovely woodland.

Volunteers Jan and Louise find the entrance steps to the reserve after removing clods of mud and grass.
Volunteer Richard inspecting the wall
A bit of drainage will hopefully sort out a notoriously wet and muddy patch of footpath
Volunteers , Roger, Pete and Brian replace chicken wire on all the plank bridges around the site to prevent slipping in wet weather
And then, a well- deserved rest in the glorious April sunshine underneath the pylons. In the summer this area is a mass of butterflies.
