CAKED 2019 @ Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve | England | United Kingdom

CAKED because it’s probably muddy, but there’ll definitely be cake at the end!

Join us for our 3km(ish) trail(ish) walk/run/jog/plod of Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve, followed by (you guessed it) cake!

We all need that extra incentive to get out and get fit in the new year, so join us for CAKED, where you’ll have earned your sweet tweet.

Take it at your pace, start the year outdoors and keeping fit. CAKED isn’t timed and there is no limit to how long you can take to complete the course, so is suitable for all level of runner, plodder and walker. Maybe you’re just starting out running or perhaps you want to try out a brisk walk of the reserve or you might just really love cake. Whatever your reasons we’d love for you to join us, entries to CAKED are limited so please ensure to book your place in advance.

The course is approximately 3k in distance, participants must be prepared for trail/ countryside conditions. If you’re not sure, do get in touch before booking.

Spectators are very welcome, booking as a spectator is not essential but it does help us plan the event better.

Ages 6-99 are welcome, under 14’s must be accompanied by an adult and must be within arms reach for the duration of CAKED. Anyone wishing to run/walk with a dog can do so but dogs must be on leads and under control at all times and any poop must be scooped. Those with dogs may also be asked to start from the back.

Your entry and spectator fees to CAKED go directly to Durham Wildlife Trust, the charity who manage Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve as well as 36 other Nature Reserves from the Tees up to the Tyne. There will also be stalls (including tombola) fundraising for the Trust on the day.

There are no medals or numbers and CAKED will not be timed, those wishing to gather their time should use their own watch/sports device. It’s so simple, 3k just for cake. No refunds will be offered but runners are able to change the name on their booking up until Monday 21st January when advanced entries will close.

Should you wish to marshal, donate cake, tombola items or volunteer your time on the day please contact Emily at eroutledge@durhamwt.co.uk.
