Trust volunteers received recognition and thanks for all their support, during a festive celebration event hosted in Durham.
Nature lovers are being invited to an event aimed at empowering North-East people to get involved in supporting wildlife.
As its name suggests, the scarlet elfcup is a bright red, cup-shaped fungus. It is widespread, but scarce, and can be found on fallen twigs and branches, in shady, damp places.
The rare smooth snake can only be found at a few heathland sites in the UK. It looks a bit like an adder, but lacks the distinctive zig-zag pattern along its back.
