Introducing Sunderland 3 Peaks!
Join us for our ramble over the 3 ‘peaks’ of Sunderland, in our newest challenge.
Walkers will enjoy the views and climbs of Tunstall Hills, Herrington Hill and Penshaw Hill over a route of approximately 8 miles.
On the way you’ll also meet expert guides on Herrington Hill, our newest Nature Reserve, who can offer some history of the site and it’s importance to wildlife while you are immersed in the spectacular display of wildflowers which adorn the reserve.
The walk will finish at Penshaw Tearooms, with an area of seating (either in the gardens or the poly tunnel) for walkers to rest, mingle and have a cuppa.
Parking is available at Herrington Country Park, Durham Wildlife Trust will run a Minibus shuttle service from Herrington CP to the start of the walk. Booking is essential in order to assist our planning and assign bus times. Unfortunately the walk is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs due to the terrain of the sites. If you have any queries about the route or access please do get in touch. Dogs welcome on leads.
Your entry fee for Sunderland 3 Peaks goes directly to Durham Wildlife Trust, your local wildlife conservation charity – thank you!
