About the event

Rainton Meadows is home to a variety of bird types and species - but what brings them here? Habitat and food!

For this session we will start off by exploring the ponds at Rainton and literally having a delve to discover some of the creatures that the birds come to Rainton to feast on. We will discover a range of invertebrates and maybe some fish and amphibians too.

Having discovered some of the aquatic critters on the reserve, we will then turn our attention further up the food chain to some of the animals and birds that consider our aquatic friends as the main course!

This session will help to better understand the consideration that goes into the management of sites like Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve – and will give you the chance to enhance your understanding of what really makes Rainton tick – and how precious this wild space is.
