New tern time

New fencing on beach to protect little terns

It’s almost tern time! And that means it’s time to make some space for pending arrivals.

The wonderful Durham Wildlife Trust volunteers spent a glorious day in April putting up fencing on Seaton Carew.

This location is a favourite spot for little terns arriving from Africa. The fencing keeps people and paws out of the tiny birds’ nesting space, giving them the best opportunity of a successful breeding season.
