About the event

The day will begin with a talk on the site and how it is managed, followed by a session of scrub removal. Cutting scrub on rotation helps maintain meadows and provides varied habitats at the boundary between grassland and woodland. We will use saws and loppers to cut the scrub.

If you can't make it for the whole day, the initial talk will be repeated at 12pm at the gate for the afternoon. No prior experience is required and participants under the age of 18 must be closely accompanied by an adult at all times.

Long trousers and sturdy footwear are essential and arms are recommended to be covered, as we will be working in close proximity to nettles and thorny plants. We will provide gloves but feel free to bring your own. Please dress for the weather, bring suitable waterproof clothing and bring lunch and a drink.

If you require a lift from Rainton Meadows, the minibus will depart at 9.15am, returning by approximately 2.30pm - please select the ticket & minibus options when booking, spaces are limited.
