About the event

Cross Lane Meadows is key urban greenspace by the A1, opposite the Metrocentre. Spring is the perfect time to litter pick and plant wildflowers so we’ll be doing both. Litter picking will be focused along roadsides and site entrances. This will only be along pavements and hi-vis jackets will be provided as required. After lunch, there will be a guided walk around the meadows, orchard, pond and woodland area.

No experience or prior knowledge is necessary with all, tools, training and PPE provided. Before work begins, there will be a short safety brief. Unfortunately, there are no toilet facilities on-site.

The event runs 10am-2pm with a 30 minute lunch break. The site is close to junction 71 on the A1. The meeting point is the layby approximately 100m southeast of the roundabout between Market Lane and Hollinside Road, What3Words: rugs.nails.cried. The nearest bus stops are found on Market Lane and Clavering Road.

The nearest facilities are at the Metrocentre (not Wildlife Trust).

Please bring a packed lunch, waterproof clothing appropriate to the weather and sturdy footwear as we may be working on uneven ground.

The reserve includes dirt paths, gates, stiles and steps.
