Durham Wildlife Trust is planning future developments of Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve in Houghton-le-Spring - a popular North East day out location. Developments will include plans for habitat restoration, species support and suggestions for access and viewing locations. The general public and other stakeholders can review the proposals at the visitor centre or online.

Rainton Meadows Visitor Centre is set within 100 hectares of woodland, wetland and grassland habitats, all of which are linked through an excellent network of accessible pathways and viewing areas.

City of Nature Sunderland is a three-year community project helping people across Sunderland connect with nature, improve wellbeing and take action for the environment in their local communities. The project is delivered by Durham Wildlife Trust in partnership with ICOS and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
