Who we are
DWS is a small team of professionally qualified, knowledgeable local ecologists, well experienced in carrying out a full range of habitat and protected species surveys within the North East. The team hold various protected species licences, allowing survey work to progress without delays. Expert knowledge of local habitats and protected species mean that the team can provide guidance on all ecological aspects of your project.
Preliminary Ecological Appraisal
A preliminary ecological appraisal or PEA is an initial survey which can be carried out on a site to identify potential ecological constraints, both habitats and species.
Biodiversity Net Gain
Our Ecologists are well-trained with experience in assessing biodiversity baselines and completing net gain calculations.
Protected Species Surveys
DWS has extensive experience in survey, assessment, mitigation and habitat creation and management to benefit protected species, which ensures that your project is efficiently delivered with no impacts on wildlife.
Other Work
A wide range of other services are offered by DWS and our ecologists are well versed in compiling various reports including Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments, and various Ecological Management and Monitoring Plans. To ensure your project is supported from start to finish, we also provide Ecological Clerk of Works and watching briefs where appropriate and when works are carried out under licence. Professional advice is provided throughout the project to ensure the best outcome for you and your project.
