Rainton Meadows to host part of Sunderland BIG Bike Ride

Sunderland is getting ready for its annual Active Sunderland BIG Bike Ride on Sunday 17 June, with hundreds of cyclists set to pedal their way to fitness on routes across the city.

Entries are now open here.

Using the city’s cycle path network, the BIG Bike Ride is designed to cover a variety of distances to make sure that everyone, regardless of experience or ability, can join in. The 35 mile route will pass through Rainton Meadows and we want your help to cheer them on!

We will be having a water refill station at Rainton Meadows between 11am and 1pm and we are encouraging family and friends of the riders as well as Durham Wildlife Trust supporters to come along and help keep them going for the rest of the ride.

We will also have The Meadows Coffee Shop open, our Wild Play Area and our visitor centre with toilets and free parking, so you can support the race and enjoy everything that Rainton Meadows has to offer too!’
