After a cloudy start to the day, the sun appeared in time for runners assembling at the start line of Run Rainton. The trail included challenging uphill climbs, such as Nicholson's Hill, and passed beside beautiful wildflower meadows and bustling wetland habitats.
Thank you to everyone who joined Durham Wildlife Trust at Run Rainton this summer. Whether you chose to ramble, run, or sprint, we hope that you enjoyed taking part in our 5k trail route through Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve.
The Trust is delighted to share that £1350 was raised altogether - all of which will help to fund vital conservation work across the North East.
Emily Routledge, Head of Development and Communications, said:
"Run Rainton has been a firm favourite on our events calendar for many years. This trail-style run through a stunning nature reserve attracts both serious and fun runners of all ages. We tried something new for 2024, moving the event to early evening, mid-week. The turn out this year was fantastic and we were delighted to raise more than £1300 for the Trust, thanks to the event. I'd like to thank all the participants, volunteers and the staff team who worked so hard to make Run Rainton a success."
